Harsh Winter and Grasshoppers Force Longtime Christmas Tree Farm to Close

CHRISTOVAL, TX — The Concho Christmas Tree Farm has decided to close its doors after 19 years due to a number of reasons including the infestation of grasshoppers.

Since Sep. 21, the tree farm has been closed to the public.

“Through economic ups & downs, drought & plentiful rain the family has persevered,” stated a press release sent out by the business. “This past year has been especially difficult between Covid-19 restrictions, an abnormally hard freeze and in this growing season, an influx of grasshoppers that have devastated the trees.”

This has forced the hand of the Uptergrove family to close down their farm.

“This was a very difficult decision to make,” stated the release. “They have so many wonderful memories of friends and families enjoying the farm and have loved and will miss being part of their Christmas traditions.”

The release ended with the a heartfelt statement from the family.

“The Uptergrove family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for all the support and patronage over the last decade,” finished the release.
