SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Rotary Club that meets every Friday at the RiverView Restaurant 880 W. Avenue D at 11:30 a.m. is back. After a year of Zoom meetings and dwindling participation, Friday, the club installed its next president, Hector Leos of Leos Imports, who set the course for aggressively growing and restoring the club, post-covid.
Hector assumed ownership of his parents’ importing business in 2003 and grew it into a thriving ecommerce operation. He opened a brick and mortar store several years ago at 25 W. Twohig Ave. in downtown San Angelo.
The Rotary Club installs a new president every year. Lisa Mayfield shepherded the club through 2020 and positioned it for the anticipated post-covid growth period. Mayfield paid tribute to her father, Stanley Mayfield, who hasn’t missed a Rotary meeting in 49 years. The only member of the Friday club who beat Mayfield was Wayne Merrill, who has a perfect attendance for 50 years. Rotarians take great pride in perfect attendance.
The Southwest Council Scout Executive Devin Koehler was recognized at Rotarian of the Year. Koehler seemed surprised and appreciative for the recognition.
Rotarian Francis Jelensperger led the installation of new officers for the 2021-2022 year. They are:
- President: Hector Leos
- President-elect: Rochel Ditmore
- Treasurer: Robert Hamby
- Secretary: Scott Zaruba
- Executive Secretary: Linda Smith
- Past President: Clifton Jones
The San Angelo Rotary Board of Directors for 2021-2022 are:
