SAN ANGELO, TX – A year from now San Angelo will hold a world record according to local restaurant entrepreneur Tim Condon after announcing the opening of his newest restaurant.
According to Condon, on Jun. 25, the location for the second Lonestar Cheeseburger has been purchased at the 4100 block of the W. Loop 306 frontage road.
"We are proud to be a shining example what hard work and dedication can do," said Condon.
The four and a half acre lot across the loop from the Sunset Mall, once completed, will house the largest drive-thru in the world. The current record is held by a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Newcastle, Australia. The Lonestar Cheeseburger location will beat the Australian KFC by two lanes.
The seven lanes will include an 18-wheeler and large vehicle lane, a delivery driver lane, an online order lane, and an alcohol-to-go lane.
Condon currently owns and operates both Lonestar Cheeseburger, at the corner of Abe and Beauregard, and Angry Cactus, located in downtown San Angelo. He claims that his success there has pushed him to open up the new massive restaurant.
"My team and I have been working on this concept since before the coronavirus," said Condon. "2020 was our best year ever and 2021 is even going to be better."
This restaurant will feature a number of items from the original Lonestar Cheeseburger but will also be bringing in new items such as shakes, ice cream, and an in-house bakery. In the bakery they will make the buns for the hamburgers from scratch daily.
Condon also ensured that they will fully take advantage of the new law in Texas allowing alcohol-to-go.
"There is something special about our Cheeseburgers and our dedicated team," said Condon. "Our success as a company is because of our hard working staff."
The project is expected to be complete within the year.
Another building is under construction next door to the lot purchased for the new Lonestar Cheeseburger. For more on that click here.
