SAN ANGELO, TX — If you are headed to lunch on Tuesday, May 4, you may want to consider lunch at Gil's Restaurant, 837 Knickerbocker Road. The staff there is doing something special for the San Angelo Area Foundation's San Angelo Gives campaign.
"I just wanted to let y'all know that on Tuesday May 4, San Angelo Gives Day, myself and all of my servers working from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. are donating all of our tips to several non-profit organizations," said manager Jackie Gonzales.
The organizations the Gil's servers have chosen are:
- The Children's Emergency Shelter,
- House of Faith, Emerald of the Sea,
- Crittershack, and
- Hands of Mercy Cat Sanctuary.
"We love what these organizations do for children, animals, and for victims of abuse. This is the first year our whole staff has participated and I am honored and overjoyed," Gonzales said.
San Angelo Gives is an all-day online campaign to raise money for local non-profits in and around the Concho Valley. Each year, San Angeloans choose what charities they'd like to support with an online donation through the San Angelo Gives web portal. Last year, during the height of the Covid shutdowns, San Angelo Gives raised a record $2.6 million locally. The year prior the record was $2 million. You can donate to San Angelo Gives here.
