GoFundMe Set Up to Help San Angelo Family Recover from Botched Surgery

SAN ANGELO, TX – A GoFundMe has was set up to help a family financially recover from a botched Gall Bladder surgery that let a woman in a coma for weeks.

The following is the GoFundMe description:

"Ashley went in to have her Gall Bladder removed on 4/8/2021 about 45 minute day surgery.  They sedated her , went in her bellybutton and nicked a vein.  Several hours later she was in ICU.  She was talking and awake for about 3 hours then started bleeding.  Rushed her to surgery and called a heart Dr. from the other hospital to stitch up the tiny hole in the vein.  24 units of blood later and coding twice she was finally back in ICU.  Friday morning they went back to surgery and cleaned her out where they had packed her with sponges and closed her up to about the size of a cantaloupe.  She is in a medical coma all this time.  Sunday (4/11/2021)  they started letting her come out of the coma some and gave her 2 more units of blood. She was irritated when she would wake up. Tuesday Morning (4/13/2021) they went back to surgery and cleaning her out and was able to completely close up the incision .  She has had better nights than the Dr. expected and her stats are good.  She is not on meds for blood pressure and her kidneys are functioning properly.  This has been a nightmare but she is tough.  We are praying for restoration and resurrection for her. She is planning on going in for Day Surgery and a few days later Returning back to work. That wasn't in God's Plan for her. She will be in the hospital for probably another week and no telling how long she will have to recover at home. This is going to put a financial bind on her and Cory. Cory had missed work as well to be by her side. We are asking for any help at all to help lessen the burden of this Nightmare she is currently living." stated the GoFundMe.
