SAN ANGELO, TX – Concho Valley Electric Cooperative announced Tuesday that its customers may experience electrical issues due to freezing precipitation accumulation.
According to the CVEC, on Oct. 27, Due to the amount of ice that has developed over the last 24 hours on CVEC infrastructure, there is an increased potential for outages to occur over the next 24-48 hours.
As considerable quantities of ice collects on utility lines, an extensive amount of weight and tension can evolve on the lines.
As the ice begins to melt, the lines can rapidly attempt to return to their normal positions causing them to collide with other nearby lines potential resulting in blinks or outages. However, CVEC stands ready to assist if this situation occurs.
Earlier this morning crews faced outages in northern Tom Green County.
CVEC experienced an abnormal high load situation early this morning in the Grape Creek/Water Valley/Carlsbad area resulting in several blinks and outages. The issue has since been resolved.
