SAN ANGELO, TX – These days you might be washing your hands a whole lot more due to social distancing restrictions, and preventing the possible spread of the novel Coronavirus. However, the City of San Angelo Water figures haven't shown any substantial COVID-19-related changes.
In fact usage numbers for the month of March are the latest available currently showing that commercial water use began at 27,738,000 gallons in January, jumped up to 30,873,000 gallons in February, and then dropped back down to 26,787,000 gallons in March.
Residential use started the year off at 133,132,000 gallons in January, increased to 134,485,000 in February, before dropping down to 118,580,000 in March.
Although, the volume of usage is different from month to month or even one month in one year compared to the same month in the previous year due to weather and any rainfall/drought conditions that existed the numbers prove that overall usage for residential and commercial use for the month of March are below average in 2020 when compared to the last five years.

...in the water usage in San Angelo because so many people bought gallons and gallons of Hand Sanitizer. People are using hand sanitizer in place of soap and water. The hand sanitizer should be used only if the person is at work , especially people working in the grocery stores as check out clerks, Clinics were people are checking in the see a doctor for one reason or another. I personally know more than several people that are check out clerks and grocery stores and stores that have a food pantry and they said that customers have offered "up to" $20 for the bottle of hand sanitizer the Clerk is using at the Check out counter! So, it's not surprising that the water usage of hand washing... is not reflecting in the City usage! As for Commercial usage, the Schools and the College campus are most likely not watering outside. The cosmetics of the schools and the college... is not important at this time with no school ... including the College not being open! Anyway, that's my thoughts on this subject! Y'all stay safe and have fun at home because it looks as if the Social distancing is working out well to flatten the curve of positive cases of the virus! Adios amigos... :-)
