San Angelo, TX – The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce held a virtual town hall meeting with Senator Ted Cruz on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. The Chamber thanks Senator Cruz for his remarks at the meeting.
Topics addressed at the town hall meeting included the national and state level response to the COVID-19 crisis, as well as resources available for businesses at this time. Also addressed was the current state of the oil and gas industry and how it impacts West Texas.
Senator Cruz indicated continued pressure would be applied to pass the Phase 4 Stimulus package, and that, to counter the negative effects to the West Texas economy, there would be continued pressure on the Saudi Arabia including a “trust but verify” stance on compliance with commitments on oil production cuts.
He also predicted a basic and long-lasting change with how we do business with China.
Chamber of Commerce President/CEO, Walt Koenig moderated the event and extends his gratitude to Senator Cruz.
“The Chamber of Commerce is committed to continually bringing our membership and the community the best support and information possible. During these critical times, we view this role as being especially important,” said Koenig.
“We appreciate Senator Ted Cruz for spending time with us today and for bringing us up to speed with the latest developments from Washington as we work together to get through and to recover from this crisis”
