DEARBORN, MI – Carhartt announced Tuesday that beginning Monday, April 6 they will be producing 50,000 medical gowns. The company will then focus on manufacturing 2.5 million masks that are desperately needed by medical professionals.
“Serving and answering the call during times of need has always been an integral part of Carhartt’s history and it’s why consumers have trusted us to have their back for more than 130 years,” said Mark Valade, Chief Executive Officer at Carhartt. “We are humbled and honored to help all the essential workers serving and protecting us right now.”
The company stated they are working with local health authorities to ensure their employees are safe as they work to create the life-saving equipment. Carhartt has implemented social distancing protocols, limiting the number of employees, and increasing sanitation measures.
Carhartt has temporarily closed all company-owned stores.
They have also implemented temporary rotating paid work schedules for manufacturing and distribution employees to “encourage social distancing among associates.”
