Door Dash Now Offering No Contact Deliveries Due to Coronavirus

SAN ANGELO, TX – Door Dash is now offering a way for self quarantined patients to still enjoy take out food.

The following is a release from Door Dash.

At DoorDash, our number one priority is the health and safety of all the members of our community. We know you have questions and I want to personally assure you that we are monitoring the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) closely. We are consulting health experts and monitoring expert recommendations, including guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, and local health officials.

Beyond simply monitoring the situation, we are taking active measures to make sure the food that gets delivered to your home is safe and secure. In affected areas, we have begun distributing hand sanitizer and gloves to Dashers. In our app, we are testing enhanced drop-off options for customers and Dashers to more easily enable a no-contact delivery, which we’ll roll out in the coming days. Today, customers who prefer a no-contact delivery can make that request in the delivery instructions.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have no reports of human illnesses that suggest COVID-19 can be transmitted by food or food packaging, but we remain vigilant in working with restaurants to ensure efficacy and safety remain the top priority.

During this time of uncertainty, we also want to acknowledge the incredible efforts of the Dashers out on the roads, who work so hard to make mealtime magic happen in homes around the globe. To support the Dasher community, we’ve introduced a COVID-19 Financial Assistance Program, which will provide up to two weeks of assistance to eligible Dashers who are diagnosed with COVID-19 or who are subject to individual quarantine at the direction of public health officials. The program will be available globally in all of the markets we serve in the United States (including Puerto Rico), Canada, and Australia.

Health and safety are all of our responsibilities. We encourage you to practice safety measures at home and when you're out. Wash your hands with soap and water frequently, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or your elbow if you have to sneeze or cough, and please stay home if you are sick. Take measures to avoid unnecessary contact with large crowds and confined gatherings of people to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

We thank you for your continued support, and we will continue to keep you informed as we take additional action.
