SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce announced today that Chuck Shore, a long-time local banker and civic leader, has been appointed Interim President effective immediately.
Shore, who retired from First Financial Bank as Executive Vice President in late 2017, served as the 2017 Chairman of the Board of the Chamber and has been actively involved for many years.
The Chamber Board thanked Peggy Arnold, former VP of Operations for the Chamber, for stepping in until an interim president could be appointed.
Former Chamber President and CEO Bruce Partain resigned abruptly last month. The parting of ways appeared to be mutual between the Chamber Board of Directors as Partain left the post immediately. The Chamber has experienced more turnover than expected since the tenure of much beloved President Phil Neighbors who died suddenly in 2016. Neighbors served as Chamber president for nearly 20 years, since 2006. After Neighbors' death, retired First Financial Bank of San Angelo president Mike Boyd assumed the interim role then until the board hired Dan Koenig in July 2016. Koenig left 15 months later to move back home to take the helm of the Council Bluffs, Iowa Chamber. Partain was hired in March 2018.
Shore’s appointment assumes the duties of Partain, who is now the vice president of operations for NextHome Legends Realty in San Angelo.
A search committee has been formed once again to select the next permanent President and CEO over the course of the next few months.
