Road Construction Forces Drivers to Detour on US 67 Near Howard College

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Texas Department of Transportation is continuing major construction on US Hwy 67 near Howard College and is advising motorists of temporary lane changes.

According to TxDOT, northbound traffic on US 67 has been switched to the new frontage roads due to major construction on the highway.

TxDOT has placed a stop sign at the intersection of Tractor Trail and US Hwy 67. The stop sign will be for both north and south bound lanes.

A detour has also been installed in the construction zone.  "If you are on the new northbound frontage roads on US 67 by Howard College stay straight to go to Miles and veer left to got to Bronte." said TxDOT San Angelo's Twitter. TxDOT confirms that they have seen confused drivers who have been making dangerous last minute lane changes in the construction zone.

The construction has been moving along as planned on the $38 million, two mile expansion project in front of Howard College.

The project includes two overpasses; one at the Howard College intersection and the other at Tractor Trail and construction is expected to take another two years.
