UPDATE: NWS: Tornadoes and Flooding Possible Over Night

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Forecasters are warning Friday that severe weather is possible during the overnight hours including large hail, damaging winds and even a tornado as a squall line is expected to form to the west of San Angelo and move east through the area after 1 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service Office in San Angelo, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected late this afternoon through tonight.

Large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes will be the main concerns.

However, deadly lightning will also be possible, and locally heavy rainfall could result in flash flooding.

The forecast is calling for showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 a.m. some of the storms could be severe.

Low around 66. South southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

On Saturday, showers and thunderstorms are expected mainly before 2 p.m. some of the storms could be severe.

High near 86. South wind around 15 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

This is a developing situation.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected late this afternoon through tonight.

Large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes will be the main concerns.

However, deadly lightning will also be possible, and locally heavy rainfall could result in flash flooding.

There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorm Saturday morning across West Central Texas. The main threats will be large hail and damaging winds.

Areas of heavy rainfall may also produce localized flooding of streets and low lying areas, as well as rises on rivers.

The storms will move east early Saturday afternoon. Another round of strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible Monday into Tuesday.
