SAN ANGELO, TX -- The San Angelo Performing Arts Center (SAPAC) announced the creation of a one million dollar endowment fund started by local businessman, Scott Wisniewski, according to San Angelo Performing Arts Center President Gus Clemens.
Clemens made the announcement on behalf of the SAPAC board Wednesday at the Murphey Performance Hall, with art supporters surrounding Mr. Wisniewski.
“This gift is vitally important to SAPAC. It provides a source of perpetual income to ensure investments made in the Murphey Performance Hall at City Auditorium and the Stephens Family Performing Arts Center will benefit our West Texas community by helping provide quality venues for the performing arts. San Angelo’s historic commitment to culture and the arts is the reason people, companies, and visitors come here. Every citizen should celebrate Scott’s generosity and his commitment to the quality of life of our community.”
Wisniewski came from Chicago to Angelo State University to play basketball in the 1980s. He graduated with an accounting degree, and then began a rewarding business career with Western Shamrock and later acquired Ener-Tel. Wisniewski is proud to call San Angelo his home and has been generous with several other organizations in the community.
Scott wanted a way to pay homage to the Western Shamrock founders, Milton and Sharalee Pierce as his extended family by creating a permanent way of supporting the performing arts in San Angelo. Scott chose to honor the Pierce family as well as his family with this generous gift, which will be managed by the San Angelo Area Foundation.
Matt Lewis, President of the San Angelo Area Foundation, said: “Scott is a gracious and charitable gentleman and we are honored to be entrusted with his generous gift. Scott sees the value of providing this type of investment into the quality of life of our community and his gift will provide ongoing operational support for SAPAC.”
