Kohler Co. in Brownwood Makes Massive Layoffs

BROWNWOOD, TX -- More than 200 employees for Kohler Co. in Brownwood were given 60 days notice that they were being laid off on Tuesday.

The facility is trimming its workforce due to other potteries within the company using more advanced and efficient methods to produce their products, according to KTXS

"Kohler Co. is proceeding with a planned retirement of the company’s older conveyor cast process, along with two smaller casting processes, within its vitreous operations at our facility in Brownwood, Texas," the company said in a statement.

The decision will put 223 of the facility's 924 employees out of a job.

"We anticipate that the workforce reduction will begin in June," the company continued. "The Brownwood site’s plastics operations, as well as one-piece casting and tank production in vitreous operations, are not impacted and will continue to operate as normal."

The company insists they will continue fruitful business over the coming years.
