SAN ANGELO, TX -- March 20 is the first day of Spring and this year it will start off as with a Super Worm Moon.
This Moon is the largest super moon of the year and will peak at 9:47 p.m. The moon will be larger but it will only be less than 10 percent bigger.
The term "Worm moon" is due to the fact that the ground is about to unfreeze and the earthworms will start to come back to the surface.
Full moons can be observed with the naked eye and don’t require any special equipment. The weather will also be mostly clear, so this years super worm moon will be extremely visible.
