Rust Street Ministries Opening for Homeless During Cold Weather

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Rust Street Ministries in San Angelo will open to house homeless individuals overnight during expected freezing weather.

According to San Angelo Public Information Officer Anthony Wilson, in preparation for anticipated frigid overnight weather in the coming days, Rust Street Ministries is opening its facility at 803 Rust St. to feed and shelter the homeless.

As we reported earlier, the Salvation Army in San Angelo closed its emergency shelter the end of February because of a lack of funding.

Rust Street Ministries will serve a meal from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. today through Sunday.

Afterward, it will offer shelter to those who have been fed for the duration of the evening.

Homeless people can take advantage of that offer by arriving at Rust Street no later than 7 p.m. each night, beginning tonight.

Overnight temperatures through Sunday are expected to fall below 39 degrees.
