City of San Angelo Seeking Input on Capital Improvement Plan

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The City of San Angelo is seeking public input on projects that should be included or prioritized in the updated Capital Improvement Plan. Citizens can share their thoughts via a short online form, during an online forum, and at a town hall gathering.

The survey is posted at cosatx.us/CIPinput. It can be completed from March 4-17.

The online forum begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, on the City of San Angelo-Public Information Facebook page. The live video program will feature City officials speaking briefly about the plan and the projects within it, responding to questions and fielding comments.

The town hall gathering will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the McNease Convention Center, 501 Rio Concho Drive. City officials will again be on hand to hear the public’s input and answer questions. The meeting will be broadcast live on the City’s Facebook page and on SATV, Suddenlink channel 17. It will be rebroadcast daily on SATV.

The feedback will help the City Council in considering and passing the 2019-24 Capital Improvement Plan on April 1.

The plan prioritizes how the City addresses large capital needs. Projects must have a useful life of at least three years, cost more than $25,000 and require at least six months to complete. Eighty CIP projects are either underway or proposed to begin by 2024.

The city charter requires a five-year CIP be published and available to citizens. The plan can be read in hard copy form at City Hall, 72 W. College Ave., or online at cosatx.us/cip.

Once the City Council approves the plan, it will help inform decisions in the 2020 budget.
