Edible Crickets Coming to H-E-B?

AUSTIN, TX -- An Austin based protein bar company says its whole roasted cricket snacks and protein bars will soon be on grocery shelves at 80 H-E-B grocery stores.

EXO Protein farm raises crickets at a facility in Austin.  According to the company's website, "EXO Protein bars are designed to give you that extra spring in your step that you need to take on the world.  With all the proteins, vitamins, and nutrients, you'll have the energy for all your favorite adventures. And thanks to the "special ingredient" in our bars, eating can be a new adventure!  We pack every delicious protein bar with healthy fruits, nuts and cricket protein."

EXO has whole roasted crickets in Texas BBQ flavor, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Sriracha, Crispy Taco and Sour Cream & Onion.

Protein bar flavors include Cocoa Nut, Banana Bread and Blueberry Vanilla.

The quirky Austin company says "No Guts, No Glory and No Gluten."

The United Nations estimates that crickets are 20x more resource-efficient than cows when raised as a source of protein. They emit fewer greenhouse gases, use less water, and require less space and food. Even skeptics have to agree that crickets offer a sustainable solution to the real problem of feeding the world’s increasing population.

H-E-B has 400 stores in Texas and New Mexico.  Nobody does more than my H-E-B!
