SAN ANGELO, TX -- San Angelo city council members will consider modifications to city food truck ordinances during their first regular meeting of 2019.

According to the agenda, council members will consider the first reading of modifications to food truck regulations following forums to solicit comments from the public on where and how food trucks can operate in San Angelo.

The new revisions would allow mobile food trucks in all commercial, manufacturing, and industrial zoning districts, as well as in residential districts subject to certain restrictions, including a maximum of four hours in a 24-hour period and at least 100 feet from homes when on church and school properties, and only four hours in a 24-hour period on apartment properties.

Food trucks can operate up to three consecutive days on a property, but must then vacate the same location for three days. The requirements for mobile food trucks on public property include no parking within 50 feet of an operating restaurant, written permission if locating near a school, and no on-street parking within 200 feet of homes or apartments unless downtown. Food trucks wanting to operate for more than 3 days must be at the same location as their commissary and on a paved surface.

If approved, the second reading of the modifications would be adopted by the city council at its next regular meeting on Jan. 22.

In other business Tuesday, city council members will consider awarding the bid for the annual seal coat project.  The $3.6 million dollar project includes applying a thin layer of liquid asphalt and a layer of coated rock.

The council is set to award the bid to Fuquay, Inc. a paving company which has not previously been contracted to provide seal coat services for San Angelo, but have performed seal coating in Seminole, Big Spring and Bryan.

Council members also have a closed session to discuss the lease of the historic Santa Fe Depot on S. Chadbourne St.

The San Angelo city council meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in council chambers in the McNease Convention Center.

This is a lot of bull. They need to leave things alone, that's all the council does is make up new rules , they all need to be voted out.

Keeping The Man Down

Way to go San Angelo - you must love keeping the man down! Do we really need more regulation on food trucks? I wish the council spent their time on fixing the streets & getting industry here instead of adding more red tape to the food truck business.
