SAN ANGELO, TX-- Orangetheory Fitness is bringing a studio to 5582 Sherwood Way and will be opening in early January, according to Studio Manager Angie Lynch.
Orangetheory Fitness is a workout studio that is class based, and focuses on endurance, strength, and power. These classes are a one hour full body workout that is based upon heart rate, and you will never do the same workout twice.
They will provide heart monitors that will be displayed on screens in front of you as you work out. This is to show you the best way for you to work out. "You can have two completely opposite people with different physiques beside you," said Lynch. "With our heart rate monitors its all about yourself so a person who is out of shape may only have to walk to boost heart rate, but if a person is already in shape they might have to sprint."
Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption is another piece used for their workout regime. This concept is that when you work at a sufficiently high level of energy, your body creates an oxygen deficit that must be restored after the energy requirements level off (e.g. you finish your workout). While your body is working to repay its oxygen debt, calories continue to "burn" long after the workout stops. OTF claims after burn can last up to 36 hours with some participants. And as a byproduct, anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories can be credited per workout, according to Orangetheory.
The studio will be open seven days a week, and classes will be from 5 a.m to 8 p.m. They will be having a special founders rate from now until December 15. Orangetheory also allows pre-members to try out a class before purchasing a monthly membership. There is no start up or cancellation fees as they do their memberships month to month, and if you have a membership you are able to go to any of the studios across the nation.
