SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University alum Scott Wisniewski has gifted Angelo State $1 million to establish the Wisniewski Family Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship within the Norris-Vincent College of Business.
The endowed chair was approved by the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents at its quarterly meeting in August, and announced at an event at the Business Resource Center this afternoon (Oct. 25). It will be held by a faculty member in the Department of Management and Marketing.
“This new endowed chair will allow us to recruit and retain excellent faculty members in business,” said Dr. Clifton Jones, dean of the Norris-Vincent College of Business. “This faculty member will provide leadership for the college’s entrepreneurship curriculum, as well as work with other faculty and the staff of the Small Business Development Center to promote entrepreneurship among our students and the local community.”
ASU President Brian May said, “The Wisniewski Family Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship gives Angelo State the ability to expand studies and encourage entrepreneurship in the Norris-Vincent College of Business. We are grateful to alumnus Scott Wisniewski, whose long-standing ties to Angelo State make this gift even more meaningful.”
Wisniewski, a 1984 alum and former member of the Angelo State basketball team, currently serves as the CEO of Western Shamrock Corporation. His generous gift will help the business college continue to provide high-quality educational experiences for all the students who come through its academic departments.
The Wisniewski Family Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship will be awarded to an outstanding faculty member recommended by the dean of the Norris-Vincent College of Business and upon approval by the president of the university in accordance with the policies of Angelo State University.
