Chamber Tourism Website Named 'Best in Texas'

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo’s tourism website, Discover San Angelo (DiscoverSanAngelo.com), was recognized as the best in the state of Texas last week. The San Angelo Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), a Division of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, accepted both the People’s Choice and the Judges’ Choice Award for Best Website at the Texas Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus (TACVB) Annual Conference 2018 Idea Fair in Sugar Land.

Diann Bayes, Vice President of the Convention & Visitors Bureau, said, “It is an honor to have our website, DiscoverSanAngelo.com, selected as Judges’ Choice award winner for Best Website at the conference. We are also incredibly humbled to have the site selected People’s Choice winner by our peers in the industry.”

DiscoverSanAngelo.com attracts 9,000 unique monthly visitors who will look at 18,000 pages. The audience is growing. Eight months ago, in January 2018, DiscoverSanAngelo.com attracted less than 7,000 unique monthly visitors.

As the destination marketing organization for San Angelo, the Chamber’s CVB staff, provides visitors with up-to-date and accurate information about our city and what we have to offer. If not for visitors coming to San Angelo, every household would need to pay an additional $399 in taxes per year to balance the City and County budgets.

“Visitors are important to the quality of life of our citizens and we encourage those visitors to discover our oasis in West Texas, off the beaten path,” Bayes said.

Bayes was acknowledged for her year long service on the TACVB Board of Directors at the conference. She previously served on the board from 2010-2012.

The Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (TACVB) provides professional development specifically for staff of destination marketing organizations, or DMOs, like San Angelo’s CVB. TACVB was formed to support and develop the convention and tourism industry in Texas through education and facilitating the sharing of ideas.
