Here's What's Happening With Bush's Chicken

SAN ANGELO, TX --  Construction on the new Bush's Chicken Restaurant on Knickerbocker Rd. stalled for months but now crews are there putting the final touches on the building.

According to general manager Timothy Cain at the restaurant Tuesday morning, the new owner is out of San Antonio and has 24 other locations. "We're making some minor modifications to kind of fit our model more and we're excited to get out here."

"It's nothing new for us to come into a market like this."  Cain said.

The City of San Angelo issued a construction permit for Bush's Chicken at 1225 Knickerbocker Rd. in May of 2017.

The shell of the building was completed and then construction stopped.  As we reported in May, general contractor John Flippo said he received a call to stop construction but wasn't given a reason why.

According to the Bush's Chicken website, the first Bush's Chicken opened near Waco, TX in 1996.  The owners then began franchising in 2005.

The website says from the beginning, Bush's Chicken has served, and will continue to serve, the best chicken, the best tenders and the best tea, at the best value.

Bush's Chicken on Chickenbocker Rd. is set to open in October.
