House of Teriyaki Grill Welcomed by Mayor and Chamber with Ribbon Cutting

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Mayor Brenda Gunter and members of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce's Concho Cadre celebrated the grand opening of a new restaurant in San Angelo and it's not a fried chicken chain and its not on Chickenbocker.

The House of Teriyaki Grill opened earlier this year at 3204 Sherwood Way in the former Freebirds World Burrito location.

As we reported earlier, T.J. and partner Steve, who also owns Dragonlicious, plan on opening the Teriyaki and Japanese noodle restaurant during the end of January, maybe beginning of February depending on remodeling time and holidays.

"We wanted to create something authentically Japanese," said T.J.

The plan is to serve beer and wine at the location as well as food.  They expect it to be primarily dine-in, but will offer take out as well.  Their goal is to create a semi-casual dining experience.  "A good place to hang out for dinner," explained T.J.

We need to put together a pot, everyone puts $20 into it and writes a month, date and if needed a year on the card. Winner will claim the pot with the closet guess for the closure of this place..........

Actually I will give it a year because that's when the lease will be up and the building owner will jack it up and they'll be forced to close just like the previous tenants in these exact locations. Have they not seen the history of this building??

Oh and San Angelo Live I know you're trying your best to get the whole "chicken thing" over but it's pretty stupid and NOBODY calls it "The Chicken District" or even worse "Chickenbocker" except you. Please stop, it's not even clever or funny.

"Chickenbocker" is hilarious, quite clever, and makes me laugh (along with many folks I know).

I'm not sure when they first opened (it's been a few months), and this is just now news? I know I've been there twice for lunch now and had great food both times. Everybody I've talked to who've been there have good things to say as well. I hope you're wrong about the rent thing - I miss Freebirds, too.

Make a go of it, these owners can! I have never met two more hard working intellegent people. They also own Dragonlicious, a Chinese food resturant. Excellent food!

How long before they serve cat? I don't eat at Chinese food joints in Angelo for that specific reason.

Wow.... talk about unsubstantiated stereotypes. Got anything to back that up? They, like every other restaurant, gets regular inspections by the Health Dept, that would shut them down in a New York minute if that ever happened. That statement alone is teetering on the edge of being classified as slander, to any Chinese restaurants in SA.

What a stupid remark to make!! The owners are not Chinese, but that is neither here nor there. I can assure you that no cats or dogs will be harmed at either resturant.

Shout out to Yantis. San Angelo was never the same after Shakey’s buffet closed down, but this otta help. It’s worth giving it a try next time I’m in town!

Yantis y’all need a food critic column. If you say it’s good then I’m there, the next time I’m down that way!
