Allsup's to Open Large Travel Center in Grape Creek

GRAPE CREEK, TX — The Allsup’s convenience store at the corner of Grape Creek Rd. and US Hwy 87 in Grape Creek is moving across the street and expanding.

Tom Green County Commissioners on Tuesday approved the final plat for the new location while the building is still under construction.  The expansion includes 12 gas pumps and eight diesel pumps for 18-wheelers.

Workers on Tuesday were pouring concrete behind the new store building the parking lot.  Pct. 3 County Commissioner Rick Bacon said recently the current ALLSUP’S across the street will be razed and the land will be used for a parking lot.

According to the Allsup’s website, Allsup’s is a family affair and still owned and operated by its founding family.  Lonnie Allsup passed away in January 2018 but his family still owns and operates the chain. With over 300 stores in 160 towns and cities, some things have changed, but the basic formula of convenience, new products, and good systems has not changed.

The convenience store chain’s website also says, “We support our local economy by providing gas from Texas and New Mexico.”  All Allsup’s stores are open 24 hours a day.

The Allsup’s in Grape Creek is store number 371 and the address is 8222 N. US Hwy 87 at the overpass.
