Last Minute Christmas Shopping Interrupted by Power Outage

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Walmart at 5501 Sherwood Way was closed shortly Christmas Eve due to a power outage.

Reports over the radio indicated a small grass fire behind the store contributed to blowing out a transformer. SAPD responded from the station behind the Supercenter at 4702 Southland. The power was reported to be out at that fire station as well.

AEP crews worked overtime on Christmas Eve to restore power by 2:30 p.m.

Walmart reopened and is scheduled to remain open until 6 p.m., according to wallmart.com.
