Local Marine Store Shutters, Blames High Rent and Walmart

SAN ANGELO, TX – A local boating and marine supply business is closing their doors and they plan to be out by Oct. 31  The current owner, Tom Bender, has owned Three Rivers Marine & Outdoor for 4 years.  The closure is due to a slow down in sales due to internet competitors and a new Walmart Neighborhood Market opening down the street from their location. The upped rent on the property they lease at 5973 Knickerbocker didn't help either.

Yvonne who has worked there on and off for the last four years said, "We are going to miss it.  Tom put a lot of work into the store as it is today.  He is a really good person and it is sad to see something shut down that so much work went into putting up."

They will be selling all remaining inventory in preparation of closing - so hurry to Three Rivers Marine & Outdoor for great deals through the end of the month.

Three Rivers Marine, their boat repair and Traxxas repair at 2143 Industrial Ave. will continue to be open.

So tell me again just how a Walmart Neighborhood Market affects a boat dealership to the point that it has to shutter the doors ? ? ?

We need more garage sales that supposedly lowers property value. I recall the endless meetings on garage sales, or you could always find out who was lowering property values at the lake because of weekend rentals. Damn white privileged always crying about something. Y’all are in charge.
