How Jim Bass Saves $100,000 Per Year on Electricity

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Jim Bass Group, which consists of multiple car and truck dealerships in San Angelo, recently took steps to decrease energy usage and save money on their electricity bill. The group partnered with the AEP Texas Commercial Solutions Program, which provides no-cost technical and financial support to help businesses identify and implement projects that reduce energy usage.

All facilities across the Ford, Nissan, Mazda, Lincoln, body shop, glass shop and service departments upgraded to high-efficiency LED lighting throughout buildings and outdoor spaces. In total, these lighting upgrades will result in over 1,018,248 kilowatt-hours of energy saved annually and were installed by West Texas Power Company. According to the US EPA, this is equivalent to eliminating the carbon dioxide emissions of 80,522 gallons of gasoline into the environment. In addition, AEP Texas presented the group with an incentive check for $50,912.40 for completing the energy reduction plan through the program.

“We’re pleased to have been able to reduce our energy use, save money, and contribute to improving the environment for our community. The guidance and financial incentives from the AEP Texas Commercial Solutions Program made this project possible,” said Jimmy Bass, owner of Jim Bass Cars and Trucks. The energy saving improvements will save the organization an estimated $100,000 annually.

“This program is dedicated to bringing meaningful energy-efficient savings to AEP commercial customers of West Texas.  We pride ourselves on identifying energy efficiency opportunities, and executing solutions that save our customers money,” said AEP EE/DR Coordinator Gary Throckmorton.
