SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- Friday, Sephora inside JCPenney witnessed over 1,000 people storm San Angelo’s newest beauty retail store.
Interested and excited Sephora fans began lining outside of the mall by 12:00 a.m. Friday morning, and by 5:15 a.m., Tod Herring, General Manager of JCPenney, said he had seen over 50 cars in the Sunset Mall parking lot. By 9 a.m. over 700 people were lined up outside the entrance of JCPenney inside the mall with the line ending near the food courts.
As Herring and Sephora associates stood in front of the new Sephora for the grand opening ceremony, Herring thanked numerous City dignitaries and partners for their involvement in the opening of Sephora. Several beauty consultants from Sephora’s in the surrounding areas were also in attendance to lend a hand to the seven new Sephora beauty consultants for San Angelo’s Sephora location.
Newly elected Mayor Brenda Gunter was very pleased with the attendance number and Sephora’s management team citing the job growth development and rise in sales tax revenue the store will bring to San Angelo. Furthermore, Gunter was excited to have an internationally renowned store make its mark in San Angelo that will “bring people into the mall, bring people into JC Penney, and bring people into San Angelo.”
When the doors opened, the staff and management team lined along the red carpet leading from the entrance to the Sephora store clapping as the first customers made their way to the stocked makeup and beauty shelves. Senior Vice President for Sephora Salon and Intimate Apparel Care at JCPenney Angela Swanner described the opening festivities as “new and different.” Sephora Beauty Manager Jimmy Hogeda was also shocked and grateful for “one of the best responses [he’s] seen throughout an opening of a Sephora inside JCPenney.
For those who were not able to make the grand opening, Sephora is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday’s 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
