SAN ANGELO, TX — Lyft announced today they are coming to San Angelo as well as other west Texas cities. Lyft is a ride share program where eligible contractors with automobiles can make as much as $800 per week, according to Lyft’s earnings calculator for a 40-hour work week.
Lyft has a mobile app where riders can order Lyft transit anywhere in the area. It is similar to the other ride-sharing service called Uber.
Lyft brags about its aggressive rollout into 131 cities by the end of March in a press release Thursday. The 2017 rollout will bring Lyft into seven new states and reach 37 million new potential riders. After the rollout, Lyft states it will have 67 percent of the nation covered.
In addition to San Angelo, other Texas cities where Lyft is expanding in March are El Paso, Waco, Killeen, Beaumont, McAllen, Lubbock, Longview, Laredo, College Station, Abilene, Midland, and Victoria.
To use Lyft, download their app to your phone, create and account and begin getting rides.
To be eligible to drive for Lyft, you must be at least 21 and own an iPhone or Android phone. As part of our approval process, you’ll undergo a DMV check, plus a national and county background check. This will require a Social Security number, in addition to a Texas driver’s license that is at least a year old.
