Koenig previously served as president of the Overland Park, Kansas; Bellevue, Nebraska; and Council Bluffs Iowa Chambers. A selection committee headed by Chamber Board Member Alvin New selected him from a large pool of applicants.

The search took five months, and in the interim, Peggy Arnold was the acting chamber president. Koenig said, “I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your leadership and all you continue to do.”
