All About You Barber and Beauty’s owner Yolanda Finley (soon to be Lloyd) is proud of the multicultural aspects of the San Angelo shop. The shop’s staff is made up of individuals of all races, genders, and walks of life.
“We do all ethnicity hair and we have nails and waxing, so we’re a full service salon,” Finley said.
All About You Barber also offers a diverse set of services.
“We do dreads, we do weave, we do any kind of extensions, waxing… We do nails, everything," Finley said. “The only thing we don’t do is massaging.”
Overall, the barber and beauty salon has quite an unusual history. According to Finley, she had filed bankruptcy and her house was under foreclosure. However, before she left for Virginia, she happened to hear of salon furniture for sale. After buying the goods for $700, she met up with her partner Davy Tillotson and started the business, which has an urban rather than a rural flavor.
San Angelo LIVE! asked Finley if she intentionally hired her diverse set of employees.
“Honestly, it was my prayer,” Finley said. “I really was hoping for that.”
Finley added that the diversity of All About You Barber and Beauty’s customers mirror the diversity of its employees.
“We accept walk-ins,” Finley said. “It’s a family-oriented place so we do [ages] zero to 100. Any age, any sex, it doesn’t matter. It’s very family oriented, very laid-back. It doesn’t matter what you do; we have lawyers, doctors, we have trash men, we have students, [and] we have military. We just really [serve] the community."
Finley said because of that diversity, business is doing well for the shop.
“We cannot complain,” Finley said. “I have nine, ten chairs filled so I think we’re doing all right.
