The first Walmart Neighborhood Market, 1852 Sherwood Way, celebrated its grand opening Wednesday. The new store, located where the former Albertson’s supermarket once stood, is a 41,000-square foot, smaller version of a Walmart Super Center grocery store.

Business was brisk and the parking lot was crowded, but not packed by Wednesday afternoon. Texas Veterans for Veterans was located outside the front door collecting donations for the benefit of San Angelo veterans who are in need.
Matt Powell is the store’s manager and the store creates 95 new jobs in the San Angelo economy. The store is open seven days per week, 24-hours per day.
