Texas Southwest Council, the San Angelo-based organization that provides official Boy Scouts programs to more than 2,200 Scouts in southwest Texas, reports that Show and Sell Popcorn Sales begin Saturday, August 23.
Each fall, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts kick off their annual popcorn sale. Typically about 1/3 of the proceeds from this fundraiser are given back to the local unit (Packs and Troops) to pay for Basic Expenses. Another 1/3 goes back to the local council for facilities, staffing, program materials, and other resources.
There are several Boy Scout organizations, or “units” that have chosen to do the Show & Sell Sales in the Concho Valley. Some of those units will be set up at Lowe’s Home Improvement Store on Saturday and Sunday this weekend from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Units selling Trail’s End Popcorn during this time will be earning funds to help pay for camping and awards.
The Show & Sell Sales runs from August 23rd until September 21st. In the San Angelo area we have several merchants who are allowing units to set up and sell during this time period.
The local Scouts ask for San Angelo’s support of Scouting and to visit the merchants who support Scouting.
