Should you drive Northbound on Bryant you might notice something a little unusual; palm trees. Palm trees that lead to the brand new Baymont Inn and Suites.
The Baymont is located at 1418 N. Bryant, a location that is not fraught with many other hotels.
“I love the location,” said Janet Halfmann, General Manager of the Baymont Inn. “There’s not anything over here that is as nice as we are.”
Halfmann explained that everything in the hotel is brand new, from the building to the towels. However, what makes the Baymont in San Angelo special, is that they are the very first property to have the new Baymont design scheme.
“The other Baymonts have a different décor,” Halfmann mentioned. “This one is coming out next year and they went ahead and let us do it this year.”
According to part-owner Tom DeLaughter, if they had opted for the old scheme, they would have had to replace the décor within a few years.
The 76-room hotel opened at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 and had three rooms booked overnight.
“We hope to fill this weekend with what rooms we have available,” Halfmann said. “We’ve already taken reservations for this weekend and continue to get calls for the stock show and rodeo.”
According to Halfmann, they plan on having a steady rate for the week and weekend, instead of having rates that are continually in flux.
In addition, the empty lot on either side of the palm tree-lined drive might one day be the home to two new restaurants.
“We hope to put a restaurant on each corner,” said Halfmann. “We’ve had some interest, but nothing is set in stone yet.”
Currently the Baymont Inn and Suites have 30 rooms ready to reserve, with the others coming as soon as last minute touches are completed.
