Rodeo Ticket Sales High on Monday

Tickets for the 82nd Annual Stock Show and Rodeo went on sale to the public Monday at 10:00 a.m. in San Angelo.

“I got here at 9:15 a.m. and until 10:00 a.m. they were lined up at the door,” said Christopher Kopecky at Blair’s Western Wear. “They’ve been in line all day.”

Barbed Wire and Roses and Pinkies both experienced ticket machine malfunctions, skewing normal first day sales, but Barbed Wire and Roses fixed their machine by mid-afternoon and had a steady trickle of people coming in for their tickets.

Pinkies expects good results once theirs is fixed.

“People are coming in right and left,” said Louise Awalt, manager of Pinkies on Bryant. “Our machine is down today, but once we get it back up we’ll be overwhelmed.”

Awalt also mentioned that Blair’s Western Wear had people waiting outside for two hours.

Pinkies began selling tickets to the rodeo last year and mentions that business is rather steady throughout January.

Jenny McClure of Barbed Wire and Roses expresses a little different results.

“We see a lot of people the first day,” she said, “then it slows down. On the week of the rodeo many come to buy last minute.”

Fayrene Craddock, secretary of the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association, mentioned that pre-sales were very good and that once all locations report in the Association expects high numbers.

Locations for ticket sales are the Foster Communications Coliseum Box Office, Barbed Wire & Roses at Sunset Mall, Blair's Western Wear, Pinkies and the McNease Convention Center.

Monday sales for the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo tickets totaled 3916 tickes sold.
