William Leland "Bill" Hale, 77, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on October 21, 2026. Born on February 26, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, Bill lived a life marked by unwavering faith, devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and a generous spirit.
Celebration of life services will be 1:30PM on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at Freedom Fellowship Church with Rev. Harold Watkins, officiating.
A resident of San Angelo for 42 years, Bill enjoyed a long career as a construction superintendent. His work took him to many places, often accompanied by his beloved wife, Lisa, and their son, Michael. Throughout his career, he supervised the construction of numerous restaurants and other projects. Fittingly, his final construction project was a church in Odessa, Texas. Bill took great pride in his work and continued working until his retirement at age 70.
On January 7, 1978, Bill married the love of his life, Lisa, just three months after they met at church. Together, they shared 48 years of marriage, building a life filled with faith, family, friendship, and cherished traditions.
Bill and Lisa loved opening their home and property to family and friends. Their Fourth of July celebrations, complete with fireworks and parades, special Christmas dinner parties, and Texas Independence Day gatherings became treasured traditions. Their home was a place where friends gathered, laughter was shared, and lasting memories were made.
Bill was a devoted member of Freedom Fellowship, where he faithfully served as a deacon. He prepared and set out communion each Sunday and generously gave his time to Freedom Homes, helping repair homes for those in need within the church community. He also participated in a weekly men's Bible study, where he encouraged and mentored younger men in their faith. His church family held a special place in his heart and was truly an extension of his own family.
Bill enjoyed working with his hands and found great satisfaction in caring for his property, trimming trees, and sitting quietly watching the deer. He also had a great love of skiing and took every opportunity he could to enjoy the slopes.
Bill treasured his friendships and was especially close to Jimmy Crawford, Jerry Krauser, Joe Grimes, Jerry Benson, and Stephen Whitlock. Whether spending hours talking on the phone, working on projects together, building things, or occasionally blowing things up, these friendships brought him tremendous joy and laughter throughout his life.
Above all, Bill was known for his generous heart, his willingness to help others, and his deep commitment to his faith. He was a man who demonstrated his love through his actions, always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and anyone in need. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lisa Hale; his daughter, Cristin Hubbell, and her husband, Brad; his daughter-in-law, Chelsea Hale; his sisters, Carolyn Burkhart and her husband, Ken, and Donna Moore; and his brother, Bobby Hale, and his wife, Diane.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael Hale.
Bill leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, love, generosity, and service. He will be remembered for his devotion to God, his love for his family, his treasured friendships, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and willingness to serve others. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and the church community that meant so much to him.
