Dennis James Tew, 74, formerly of Canton, CT, passed away on October 14, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Robert Massie funeral Home.
Dennis was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was truly one of the most forgiving people you could ever meet. Even in the hardest of times, Dennis had a way of putting others before himself, caring more about how everyone else was feeling than his own struggles. He had a great sense of humor and never failed to make a person laugh. His kind heart, understanding nature, and unconditional love were some of the greatest gifts he gave to those around him.
Throughout his life, Dennis worked as a truck driver and mechanic. He enjoyed music, meaningful conversations, and the simple pleasures that made life special. He loved taking long walks, watching baseball and football with his son Michael, most of all, spending precious time with his grandchildren. His love extended beyond his family, as he was also cherished by his neighbors and those fortunate enough to know him.
Dennis leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, forgiveness, and compassion. His presence brought comfort to those around him, and his memory will live on through the many lives he touched. Though his family must now learn to navigate life without him, the lessons he taught through his kindness, patience, and love will remain with them forever.
He is survived by his lifetime friend and mother of his children Carol Monigold of Whiting, IA, his children, Jennifer Tew (Marvin Hildreth) of Whiting, IA; Michael Tew (Melissa Alvarez) of San Angelo, TX; and Laura Tew of San Angelo, TX.
He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Cade Tew (Mackenzie Tew); Trenton Tew (Hailey Burgess); Ashlynne Hildreth (Clyde Hildreth); Brayden Tew (Maggie Tew); Layla Carter; Korbin Tew; Brody Carter; Jaxon Tew; Liam Tew; Molly Carter; Kayleigh Carter; and Chelbi Tew.
Dennis was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren, including Clyde Hildreth Jr., Waylyn Tew, Cora Hildreth, Adaline Tew, Sterlyn Tew, and Paxton Tew, with another precious great-granddaughter Hildreth, soon to arrive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Tew, and his mother, Helen Sawicki Tew, both of Canton, CT.
A private family ceremony will be held to celebrate Dennis's life and honor the memories of a man who meant so much to those who loved him.
In honor of Dennis, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Though Dennis may no longer be here to share a conversation, take a walk, watch a game, or spend time with the grandchildren he adored, his love will never be gone. He will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone whose life he touched.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
