Otilia Cortez Reyes, 93, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 12,1932, in Winters, Texas, to parents Felix and Petra Cortez, and spent most of her years in Ballinger, Texas before moving to San Angelo. In1952, she married John Lopez Reyes, and together they shared 73 years of marriage filled with love and family.
Otilia deeply enjoyed attending her children’s activities, games, and spending days full of fun and laugher. She also had a great love for her church, helping others, gardening, music and dancing. Otilia lived a life devoted to Jesus. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Otilia is survived by her husband and children Estella Reyes, John David Reyes (Annabell), Sandra Bryan (Greg), Michael Reyes (Edna), Sonia Reyes and Karen Burris all of San Angelo. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeremy Zapata (Selena), Chris Bryan (Ashleigh) John David Reyes (Anna), Sara Mortimore (Colin), Carol Montelongo (Adam), and John Michael Reyes. She is also survived by her three great grandchildren Max, Mia and Marc.
Otilia is also survived by her brothers Rudy Cortez, Oscar Cortez, Bobby Cortez and her two sisters Hermelinda Garcia, and Mante Martinez.
Her brothers, Felix Cortez, Manuel Cortez and Joe Cortez, and sister, Bertha Archer, preceded her in death and are now with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Otilia will be deeply missed by her family along with all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her generosity to others, her kindness, and her sense of humor.
Rosary will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
Funeral service will be at The Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart – San Angelo, on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
