John Charles Donovan ("Jack") passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026 at the age of 77. He was born on May 21, 1949 in Salem, Massachusetts to James and Martha Donovan. Jack grew up in Marblehead, Massachusetts where he graduated high school in 1967. In 1971, Jack earned a BA degree from Merrimack College in Political Science.
He proudly served in the USAF from 1974 until 1994. Most of Jack's time in the service was as a paralegal. He had assignments in upstate New York, Germany, England, Colorado, and Texas. Later in life, Jack worked at the Goodfellow Air Force Base library for 16 years.
Jack loved to travel, snow ski, and play sports. He cheered for all the New England teams but held the San Antonio Spurs as the best of all.
Jack bravely fought cancer the last three years of his life. He appreciated all the care he received from Shannon Medical Center, especially that from Chaplain Chad Fogle and Social Worker Katie Hill.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha Donovan; and his brother, James M. Donovan.
Left to cherish Jack's memory are his close friends, Jocelyn Ronan and Steven Velasquez.
Jack requested that no services be held. He will be buried at Fairmount Cemetery next to his mother and father.
