Esperanza Casarez, 74, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Houston.
Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the Rosary being played at 6:00 PM Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 28, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Joey Faylona, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mrs. Casarez was born December 29, 1951 in Austin to Ignacio and Maria Landin Gonzalez. Esperanza married Marcos Casarez on December 30, 1967 in Lamesa. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2019. Esperanza was a CNA working at, Baptist Memorial, Eden Nursing Home, Concho County Nursing retiring in 2011. Esperanza was a resident of Houston since 2011, moving there from San Angelo. While in San Angelo she was very active at St. Mary's Catholic Church, becoming a Legionnaire in 1994. She loved to crochet, making blankets for many loved ones, reading and painting.
Survivors include her two daughters, Vickie Casarez, and Veronica Morales and husband Jose; her two sons, David Casarez and wife Mona, and Lawerence Casarez and wife Graciella; her five siblings, Susan Hernandez, David and Dora Gonzalez, Beatrice and Mario Gonzales, Juan and Cecilia Gonzales, Carla Vasquez ; her 10 grandchildren, David, Robert and wife Ariel, Anna and husband Jeff, Erica and Richard, Andrea and husband Michael, Joel and wife Nina, Mercedes and Logan, Jacob and Alyssa, Christan, Christina; and her 11 great grandchildren, Evelyn, Jordan, Marcos, Melanie, Abraham, Joel, Jeremiah, Josiah, Kariana, Jaycee, and Amelia.
