Barbara Rae Wisdom, age 86, of San Angelo, passed away on August 21, 2026. She was born on July 14, 1940 in Sherman, to Raymond Edward Inman and Dorothy Beene.
After graduating from McKinney High School in 1958, Barbara attended business school and began a career in public service for the federal government in Administrative Services in Dallas. On January 15, 1960, she married Tommy Wright Wisdom at the Bryan Street Baptist Church in Greenville, beginning a marriage and partnership that would span more than 66 years.
Following their marriage, Tommy and Barbara moved to Wichita Falls, where Barbara completed course work at Midwestern University. Tommy's career eventually brought them to San Angelo; the place they would make their forever home for more than five decades. Barbara continued her education at Angelo State University and her public service with Goodfellow Air Force Base. But her most meaningful role throughout her life was being a wife and mother to her three boys, Jeffrey Wright, Kevin Doyle, and James Scott.
For more than six decades, Barbara was Tommy's biggest supporter, travel companion, and ultimate partner. Tommy admired her not only as his wife, but simply as a good person. Together, they built a home for their family and friends. Barbara was beloved by her children's friends, and groups of kids could often be found in her home, enjoying her homemade fudge and pies.
Barbara loved dancing and music, was an avid reader, and shamelessly enjoyed a good chocolate malt (or really anything chocolate). She had a good sense of humor, the biggest heart, and fierce loyalty to her family. Some of the family's most treasured memories were made during 8 summers RVing in the mountains of Creede, Colorado. Family was at the center of Barbara's life, and the relationships she shared with those she loved were filled with traditions, humor, and affection.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Edward Inman and Dorothy Beene; her sister, Peggy Scribner; and her beloved son, James Scott Wisdom who she affectionally called her "Will." She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Tommy Wright Wisdom; her sister, Mona Claytor; her sons Jeffrey and Kevin Wisdom; her four grandchildren Sarah, Emily, Madison, and Colin Wisdom, and her four great grandchildren Jaimason Smith, Farrah, Leo, and Piper Wisdom-Trankler.
Barbara leaves a husband who loved her deeply, a family shaped by her ever-present love, a life filled with memories, and generations who will carry pieces of her with them. Barbara was a devoted Christian and follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is now forever with her Lord in comfort and peace and finally reunited with her son, Scott.
She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
