CW “Dub” Younts Jr., 87, was called to his heavenly home on July 30, 2026. He was born on October 26, 1938. Dub lived a life marked by adventure, humor, toughness, resilience, faith, and generosity. He never met a stranger and could—and would—talk to anyone and everyone. His stories, laughter, strong spirit, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
After graduating from Temple High School in 1957, Dub proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for four years. During his time in the Marine Corps, he earned his first black belt while stationed in Japan. On December 1, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Joyce Butler, beginning a loving marriage that spanned more than 64 years.
In 1964, Dub and Betty moved to Abilene, Texas, where he began his career in the insurance business. They moved to San Angelo in 1968, and Dub became a district manager for Mutual of Omaha. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards and earned many trips in recognition of his accomplishments. In 1987, he opened his own independent insurance agency.
Dub had a lifelong sense of adventure and was never afraid of a challenge. After his years in the Marine Corps, he continued his passion for martial arts and taught Christian martial arts during the 1990s. He also treasured time spent outdoors, especially quail hunting with his sons, grandsons, and beloved bird dogs, as well as fishing with his wife and granddaughter.
Above all, Dub was a faithful servant of the Lord. He taught Bible study and took every opportunity to share Christ with those he met. His faith guided his life, strengthened him through hardships, and shaped the legacy he leaves behind. Psalm 23 was his favorite passage of Scripture and a reflection of the faith and trust with which he lived his life.
Dub was preceded in death by his father, CW Younts Sr.; his mother, Dedie Mae Younts; his granddaughter, Rachel Stelly; his brother-in-law, Nolan Wayne Butler; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Younts; his sons, Christopher Younts and his significant other, Glenda, and Craig Younts and his wife, Lisa; four grandchildren, Matthew Younts and wife Tara, Mandy Olivares and husband Eddie, Jacob Younts and wife Taylor, and Joshua Younts and wife Taylor; and 13 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Hospice of San Angelo and Dub’s caregiver, Sylvia Eastman, for the kindness, compassion, and loving care they provided.
Dub will be remembered for his devotion to Christ, his love for his family, his generous heart, his quick wit, and the countless stories and memories he shared. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at home with his Lord and Savior.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 6, at Johnson’s Funeral Home from noon to 8:00 p.m. A church service will be held at Grape Creek Baptist Church on Friday, August 7, at 10:00 a.m., with a graveside service at Grape Creek Cemetery immediately following.
