Mike was born on July 28, 1946, in San Angelo, TX to Miguel and Manuela Torres. On April 16, 1965, he married the love of his life, Alicia Navarro. They shared 61 years together and were blessed with four children.
As the oldest of his siblings, Mike understood early on the importance of being a leader and a hard worker. He worked as a foreman at City Lumber for 30 years, and after retiring, he began a new career as an owner-operator truck driver for an additional 11 years.
Mike loved all sports, but baseball was always number one in his heart. He coached a semi-pro team called "Los Chicanos" and later went on to coach both of sons' baseball teams.
He was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of Monte de Olivos Assemblies of God. He volunteered his time as a Sunday school teacher and in the Men's Ministries. He was also involved with the Royal Rangers, where he positively influenced the lives of many young men. At the time of his passing, he was an active member of Bethel Assembly of God, serving as both an usher and a greeter.
Mike was not one to be serious--he always found a way to make you laugh. He enjoyed his days doing what he did best: watching TV series and movies.
