Richard was born to Jose and Trinidad Sosa on April 11, 1941, in San Angelo, Texas.
He was called Babas by all his grandchildren, and great grandchildren, in fact, that became the name everyone in the family called him; it was no longer dad, he was Babas. We fondly remember him playing hide and seek with his grandchildren when they were toddlers and to help the little ones find him, he would make the sound "baa-baa" "baa-baa" like a baby sheep, and thus the name Baba was born.
Richard owned and operated Sosa's Tire Shop on Ave K for over 3 decades, and with his kind, high-spirited, funny personality his customers became his lifelong friends. His laughter was contagious and his generosity was a true reflection of his character.
Richard loved his Tire Shop, fishing, spending time with his family and he loved the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved the staff at St. Juanita Retirement and Rehab, the entire staff brought so much compassion and warmth to our father's life, and their care was a true blessing. We thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts for being a 2nd family to our dad - you will never be forgotten.
Richard joins his parents, Jose and Trinidad; his sister, Josephina Sosa; Odelia Dietz; Alicia Jasso; his brothers Joe Sosa and Arthur Sosa Sr.
He is survived by his son, Richard Sosa Jr, and Mandy; three daughters, Sylvia Mascorro and Felix, Cynthia Alvarez and Jeremy, and Monica Gutierrez; two sisters Irene Deleon, Manuela Gatica and one brother, Rudy Sosa. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Richard III, Valerie, Jeramiah, Sky and husband Aaron, Robert and wife Victoria, Alyssa, Lauren, Destiny and husband Pete, Sabrina, Allison, Alejandro, David and wife Veronica, Nicole and husband Jesse, Sonia; and numerous great grandchildren.
We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in honoring.
