David Rendon Charles, Sr., 72, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2026, in San Angelo.
Public viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with the Rosary recited at 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. A Liturgy of the Word will take place 10:30 AM Friday, April 24, 2026, At Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Fr. Joey Faylona, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mr. Charles was born on October 20, 1953, in San Angelo to Sisto and Maria Charles. He attended Glenn Middle School and remained a lifelong resident of San Angelo. On February 7, 1976, he married Mary Garcia in San Angelo.
David worked as a fabric cutter for Levi Strauss & Co. for 22 years and later as a long-haul truck driver. He retired after 11 years of service at the State School, where he worked in laundry maintenance. He was a member of both St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church. David enjoyed playing pool, working in his yard, and taking on various projects. He was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Charles of the home; his daughter, Sandra Kennon; his sons, David Charles, Jr. and his wife Dana, and Mark Anthony Charles; his brother, Sisto Charles, Jr.; and his sisters, Helen Lee and her husband Pat, Olga Lee and her husband Tim, Rita Santillan and her husband Fernando, and Linda Charles and her husband Albert. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ernestine Ruiz.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU nurses, Sarah and Jelleigh, and the staff at Shannon Medical Center for the care and compassion they provided. May God bless them for all that they do.
