It is with immense sorrow, we announce the passing of Jamila Amaris Lopez-Santillan, who passed away on April 2, 2026. In her short three months, Jamila touched many lives and brought immeasurable joy to her parents, Ashley Lopez and Josh Santillan. Known for her beauty, sass, and being the best-dressed baby in the NICU unit, Jamila already had a vibrant personality and attitude, traits she inherited from her mom. She was a spitting image of her father. Jamila loved being sung to, surrounded by her stuff animal friends, and everything pink. She especially loved her pacifier and loved listening to her parents read her books every day at the hospital. A very specific baby, she would let you know exactly what she liked and didn’t like. She loved having her little legs crossed when sleeping and felt embraced when her mother would put her finger on her hand by Jamila’s face. Though her time with us was brief, the memories and smiles she gave will forever be etched in our hearts. Deeply loved and missed by her parents, grandparents, Eddie and Betty Lopez, and Gustavo Santillan and Flora Hernandez; her uncle, aunt, and baby cousin, Edward Lopez, Rosie Lopez, and Belly Lopez; her uncle, aunt, and cousin, Jacob Gatica, Stephanie Gatica, and Gabriel Santillan; her siblings Ana Baeza, Joshua Jr. Santillan, and Marcela Santillan; and her uncle, Chris Santillan.
A visitation will be held on April 9, 2026, from 5-6 PM at Harper Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
