Orlando Larnell Colbert was born on January 20, 1959 to Arthur Ray and Ruby Colbert in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the 3rd of his siblings in a USAF family which was frequently stationed in various places globally giving him a very extensive knowledge of people and languages. Their final station with his family landed them in San Angelo, Tx where he attended and graduated from Central High School and was a proud Bobcat all his life still attending games regularly as well. He loved basketball and football and was a diehard Dallas Cowboy and Texas Longhorn fan. He loved living in Texas and would be heard saying often that "I wasn't born here but I got here as fast as I could!"
He loved all things military so much that he joined the Air Force after graduating and received numerous commendations during his service while he worked as a Medical Service Specialist. After medical retirement, he returned to San Angelo, Texas where he continued his love for all things sports and used his retirement time to both play and coach basketball as much as he could. He coached various teams of both his children and neighborhood children that he came across and was always the loudest voice you could hear in any court or field you could find but always out of love. He always had a great love for all the people and children in his life and always lived a motto of respect and sayings like "Act like you got some sense, you alright with me".
He loved his family and loved the family he created for himself while in San Angelo. Orlando loved to look his best and would always make sure that he posed for his "Get Fresh Fridays". And even though he enjoyed doing fun things he loved giving back even more. He often volunteered in the community to give children back to school supplies or have a safe place to celebrate Halloween at their fall festivals. He lived his life just like his voice very loud and was usually always the one to stop and help almost anyone in need. He gave even when he couldn't and even gave when he shouldn't. He was often the funniest, most blunt person in any room he was in and would never ever hesitate to let you know just how he felt about anything that you said regardless of who the person was. Often while giving advice, he'd include a funny part during his delivery but even still the advice rang true despite the delivery. He always stood up for what he believed in and was never to be swayed even if he knew he would be shunned, he held firm to his beliefs and morals of how he felt he wanted his life to be and held that until his very last breath. His greatest love in his life was his family and children that loved him and his wife, Detra.
