Ronnie Wayne Roach, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 30, 1946, in San Angelo, Texas, Ronnie was a proud resident of his hometown. He graduated from Central High School in 1964 and went on to attend ASU. Ronnie then began his meaningful career with the Texas Department of Insurance, where he served as an inspector and traveled throughout the state of Texas until he retired in Austin, TX.
Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Roach; his children, Lance Roach and wife Sandye of Luling, TX, Brant Roach and wife Sonia of San Angelo, TX, and daughter Carolyn McCrea and husband Tanner of Tankersley, TX; his sister, Sylvia Peel; and five cherished grandchildren; Dausin, Peyton, Guthrie, Helen B, and Brandee, along with numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, D. Lois and Dorothy Roach.
A true outdoorsman, Ronnie had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. Thursday mornings were especially meaningful—often spent shooting with "The Boys," a tradition he greatly treasured. He was also a proud Master Mason with Mackenzie Lodge No. 1327 in Lubbock, Texas, and a longtime member and chairman of the San Angelo Rodeo Association Hospitality Group, exemplifying his strong commitment to service and community.
Ronnie’s love for cooking was as strong as his sense of humor. A talented caterer, he was one of the pioneers who started the Texas Tech tailgate parties in the early 1980s. He was also an enthusiastic chili cook, qualifying for the prestigious World Championship Terlingua Chili Cookoff—an achievement he held with pride. Whether in the kitchen, around a campfire, or gathered with friends and family, Ronnie had a gift for bringing people together and making them feel welcome.
He will be remembered for his warm heart, quick wit, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. His legacy lives on in the memories of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo, TX, followed by graveside services in the family cemetery located in Tankersley, TX, on the Lee Ranch. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend to honor his memory.
Though he may be gone, Ronnie’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all he touched.
